Information for Artists Call For Artists: Exhibition Opportunity Deadline - September 30, 2007 The Arts Center In Orange is reviewing slides of art for exhibition opportunities during 2008-9. The mission of The Arts Center In Orange is to promote appreciation for quality contemporary arts with a diversity of styles and ideologies. This is done by providing: a forum to promote artistic excellence; scholarship and education; a venue for artists and artisans to work, teach, exhibit and sell work; and a place for the community to learn skills, and to participate in and enjoy the arts. Centrally located between Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and Culpeper, the Arts Center draws visitors from these areas as well as Richmond, Northern Virginia, and Washington, DC. The Arts Center is housed in an early 1900s brick structure directly across from the Orange County Visitors‚ Bureau on Main Street. The newly renovated gallery is 900 sq./ft with 12 foot ceilings, hardwood floors and professional gallery lighting. The Arts Center in Orange is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. There is a nonrefundable review fee of $10, which must be included in the application. Send 10 numbered slides, labeled with artist's name, medium, size, date of creation, a slide list with the same information on the slides, along with resume and artist's statement. Slides will be returned if you provide a self addressed, stamped envelope. Slides will be reviewed by the Arts Center's Program Committee. The Arts Center will hold an opening reception and provide refreshments, promote the exhibit to local and regional news, mail invitations to our mailing list of 2,500, provide 50 invitations to each artist and take a 30% commission on work sold. Artists are encouraged to attend the opening receptions, but it is not mandatory. Art will be insured while on the premises, the artist is responsible for insuring work in transit to and from the gallery. The artist is responsible for shipping/delivering work to and from the exhibit.
